2007 Scholarship Report

Since 1997, the Minneapolis Moline Collectors Club has awarded one or more $500 scholarships to a deserving college age person. The idea behind the scholarship goes hand in hand with our mission statement of “Educating the public about Minneapolis Moline”. This person must be either a member or have either a parent or grandparent who is a current member of our club. The other main requirement is that the person attends either a vocational or two or four year college. For more information and access to printed forms, go to: www.minneapolismolinecollectors.org.

Once the application deadline has passed, my committee evaluates all applications and selects a winner based on their merit. I am happy to report that we had the largest number of applications ever this year. Because of the number and quality of the applications, our job of evaluating them was made very challenging. Because we had so many exceptional entries, it was our decision to declare four winners this year. Those winning applicants are:

Laura Dallman, Bloomington, Mn—Grandchild of Willie Dallman
Derek Fasnacht, Kansas, Il.—Grandchild of Wayne Humphres
Megan Lynn Braaten, Hancock, Mn.—Daughter of Kevin Braaten
Ashley Nicole Tebbe, Breese Il.—Daughter of Andrew Tebbe

We would like to congratulate these four young students for a job well done! We encourage any and all members to have their children and/or grandchildren apply for this scholarship next year. Even though there are several applicants who did not win this year, we hope that they are not discouraged and will consider applying again next year. Again, congratulations and best wishes in the future endeavors of our four winners.
