Douglas P. Sorem is a "country boy" who grew up in small-town Nevada,
Iowa. He discovered his artistic talents at an early age and it
wasn't long before "Etch" became his nickname.
Combining his fascination and appreciation of tractors and farm
machinery with his art is a natural for Doug. He's able to create
the essential, intricate details in his work because he knows farm
machinery and spends time meticulously studying the photos and sketches
he uses as a guide in creating his etchings.
In 1987, he was introduced to the concept of etching on granite.
Since that time his work has blossomed into monument etching where
his artistic touch has been used to enhance the beauty of numerous
memorial stones.
