Iowa State University Tractor Club members successfully completed their restoration project. The restored ZTU 1946 will be auctioned at the August MMCI Summer Show.
I feel that we are going the wrong way with our retoration grants. I think it would be more benificial to award the grants to a young individual starting a restoration project. Good chance most of the people in that class will never touch another M-M product.
I agree with your comment, BUT you have to realize that many times the board only gets ONE application per year to look at. Or maybe TWO and they are both FFA or college clubs or an applicant who has already completed a project and looks at MMCI like a chance to get a "rebate" on their project. Those have to be denied. The intent of the program is to "mentor" the youth from start to finish. Helping them determine what parts and repairs are needed, determining parts sources, setting a budget, etc. What we need are more people within the club to think of grandkids, neighbor kids, other local boys or girls who would embrace a chance to watch old iron turn into a beautiful restoration. Until more people step up and submit applications, our grant program is only a concept with a lot of potential.
To clarify my last post.....I meant the applications requesting grant funds on projects already completed have to be denied, not applications from FFA chapters or college clubs. Currently there is no rule against groups applying the same as individuals do.
We in the ISU Antique Tractor Club have been grateful for the grant and overall have gained knowledge and experience in the history and the restoration of the Minneapolis Moline tractor. The grant we received was used in its entirety and put towards the restoration of the tractor including a complete engine overhaul, all new gaskets, clutch, and bearings. Additionally, our sponsor, Loren Book, helped us use the grant wisely while sharing his knowledge and expertise on Minneapolis Moline tractors. Working on the ZTU has sparked interest among many members of the club. Specifically, one individual has purchased MM equipment and another is planning on buying his neighbors MM U. The club was created as a non-bias brand organization with the intention of restoring a variety of equipment. Although the club may or may not restore another Minneapolis Moline the experience we gained from the project was of great value to the club and its members. We believe that the grant should still be offered to organizations or individuals who would like to restore Minneapolis Moline equipment.
I am the process of restoring a moline gvi and need torque specs for hesd bolts.These bolts are big and corse threaded.Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, This just came across my desk and I had to pass it on to you ASAP…
Internet multi-millionaire Mack Michaels has a few new positions available right now…
If accepted you can easily rake in $11, 917 per month starting from scratch.
==> http://www.maverickmoneymaking.info/maverick.html
Once you’re accepted just follow the training Mack gives you. It’s really quite simple…
Learn how Mack went from not being able to afford Christmas gifts to a millionaire lifestyle and how you can too!
BUT…
Due to the extremely high level of Hands-On time Mack spends with every new member he has to limit the number of positions that are open.
Right now there are only 2 available in your area. If you’re interested you should move quickly.
